Kudos to Shelby and Lora for their art!

Executive Assistant in the President's office, Shelby Foster won an Honorable Mention in the ASOC / LIFE club's Environmental Art Contest. Her collage of colorful, recycled materials -- made to resemble wildflowers on a hill -- got the most votes overall, though not in any one category.

"I thought it would be interesting and I wanted to try making an art project out of recycled paper," Foster said. "The project turned out to be a lot more work than I thought and it changed while I was making it, but it was a lot of fun. "

Lora Williams, a Peer Advisor in the CalWORKs department, won Best Overall.

"What inspired the drawing was my two daughters," Williams said. "I look at them a lot and wonder what the world will be like when they are adults and they have there own children."

The other winners include:

Fred Hom for Most Relevant
Maria-Louise Javier for Best Use of Color
Richard Robinson for Most Original
Kol Parsons for Best Style

Each winner received a gift bag of green items from the LIFE Club and $25 in cash for each category ($50 for Best Overall).

Congratulations to everyone!
